The handmade Helm has great legs, making this one of our most statuesque tables, standing proud in many homes. We’ve made the legs a little wider, so you can enjoy the grain detail from every angle. Turning a piece of sustainable timber into The Helm Table is exactly why we get out of bed in the morning. And yes, we make beds too.
A combination of three eucalypt species come under the Wormy Chestnut banner. Pieces are straw blonde to light brown in colour and are selected for their featured appearance, the result of years of wildfires, drought and insect attacks. Gum veins, pinholes and squiggly worm marks are all desired features that give this timber a rustic charm.
Tasmanian Oak
Tasmanian Oak is the cumulation of three Eucalyptus hardwoods grown and sourced in Tasmania. It is a light coloured, straight grain timber that includes minimal feature, making it the perfect understated timber to compliment any furniture design. Colours within the species range from straw to a light red brown.
American White Oak
Popular for its unique and coarse figure American Oak is overall quite light in colour with light to dark brown heartwood. The cellular appearance on the end grain makes it a popular choice when visible end grain is displayed through a particular design. Grown in America's eastern states and sourced from local specialist timber suppliers.
American Black Walnut
The naturally darkest and most desired timber we work with. Walnut has a light to dark chocolatey brown heartwood with creamy white sapwood and is super smooth in colour and tactility. It’s a pleasure to work with and a treat to dine on.
The original Hardwax Oil is based on natural vegetable oils and waxes. It is micro-porous and does not crack, flake, peel or blister. Good for the environment and good for you! Our hardwax oil accentuates the natural colour and grain of the timber, giving it a permanent "wet look". Resistant to wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and water etc. and virtually anything your kids can throw at it. Dirt can easily be removed without trace and renovating, even partially, is easy. Just clean and re-treat worn areas: No sanding, no repair marks and no removal of previous coats required.
Raw Effect Hardwax Oil
Our Raw Effect finish accentuates the natural colour and grain of the timber, giving it a permanent "wet look". Raw Effect counters this exaggeration of the wood's colour, leaving the surface looking as near to natural as possible. The finish is close to being invisible to the eye and retains as much of the wood's natural colour as possible.
“The Built showroom is drool-worthy, everything is such high quality and expertly custom built. Our new media unit looks so great and the process of purchasing it was a dream. I was even able to view the timber before it was made to ensure I would be happy with the finished product. Scott's advice and communication is excellent. Highly recommend!”

“Excellent service and quality. I had a picture in my head of what I wanted and they absolutely delivered. Affordable prices with exceptional craftsmanship. Highly recommended.”
Our client came to us with a large and unique dining space but couldn’t find the perfect table to fit. Hosting up to 14 guests was a priority, so we custom-designed a table at 3500mm long and 1200mm wide to suit their exact needs.
Working closely on the design brief we were able to match their style, ensuring the table not only fit the room but also reflected their personal taste.
The result? A centerpiece that completes their home and sets the stage for countless gatherings. This is more than just a table—it’s where big dinners and even bigger memories come to life.
Did you know that all of our timber finishes are applied in-house by our skilled makers?
American Oak, with its open grain structure, is our go-to for its ability to absorb black stain, delivering a striking finish while showcasing the natural timber texture beneath.
It’s no wonder this transformation has become a crowd favourite finish.
