Founded in 2012 by husband and wife maker/design duo, Scott and Nykita Shannahan, Built Furniture is deeply rooted in a commitment to local manufacturing. Our blend of unique qualifications and an ability to push each others skill sets, has seen us crafting solid timber furniture from our combined showroom and workshop floor in Port Adelaide ever since.
Crafting a sense of home through thoughtful architectural and interior design, alongside personalised, handmade furniture is what motivates us in our work. Having renovated several family homes ourselves, we deeply understand the journey our clients are on as they renovate, build or purchase a property to make their own. We love hearing about your home project and discovering the story behind the piece we’re creating for you.
Solid timber’s ability to seamlessly blend the outdoors with your indoor spaces resonates deeply with us. When we’re not crafting furniture, you’ll find us fishing on remote beaches, camping in the outback, or biking and hiking our way through a local forrest. It’s nature’s boundless freedom and unique sensory experience underpins our commitment to working with solid timber. If you share our passion for bringing the essence of natures beauty into your home – let’s collaborate.
Working with us means you’ll step into our world of wood, a place where we connect you with the journey of creating made to order, solid timber furniture. From first contact right through to final installation you’ll be working directly with us, your makers. We start by meeting with you in our showroom to chat about your home project and design brief, before discussing the furniture features you are drawn to and how they will enhance your lifestyle. Then, we take you behind the scenes on a tour of the workshop, where you can witness our makers bringing rough sawn timber to life and be inspired by works in progress. To help you visualise the final piece and get you excited about the construction phase ahead, we provide detailed 3D drawings and photorealistic renders, where required.
